Hand block printing - Moledro

Textile printing is the method of practising colour in specific patterns and designs. A Fabric with colour print bonded with the fibre, to resist colour from fading while washing or applying friction. For creating different patterns on the fabric, wooden blocks, stencils, engraved plates, or rollers comes in use on fabric during printing. There are several methods by which a fabric can be printed. Hand block printing is a kind of work that involves shaping a craved pattern on a wooden block, including this block with ink or dye, and then imprinting it on the fabric. Blocks can be constructed by stone; but for better outcomes, they are more usually constructed from wood. Intricate designs that you see printed on a piece of fabric are not designed with a brush; they are carved to wooden blocks. Fine prints of flowers, animals, and several abstract designs; give an interesting face to a simple fabric. Wooden block print is the course of printing or embedding patterns on fabric materials; like linen, cotton, or silk by applying wooden blocks. It is the simplest, but the slowest process of fabric printing. Hand block print is able to generate higher artistic effects, some of which are not possible by any other designing method. Earlier, the design for the hand block was normally a traditional Indian theme; though, now any design or pattern can be embedded on the block to give print at fabric. Rajasthan is home to hand block printing. This technique of block printing is used in both the fashion and interior industries. Good woodblock printing requires skill and practice to create uniformity and clear patterns. Wood blocks used for hand block printing is generally made up of sycamore, plane, and pearwood. These printing blocks may range in the shape of their size but should be in a length of two or three inches in thickness. The edges of this wood are left and it is not sculpted. Fine aspects are very tough to cut in wood, and if fortunately cut they do to break off in printing. Each colour has a different block, so while getting these blocks ready; an important task is to get the exact design in your hand before applying. Once wooden blocks are ready, you can start with printing the fabric. Block printing designs are fascinating. These printing patterns add an edge to the garment and make it look alluring. Unlike various design trends like Phulkari, hand block printing took its motivation from an old age form of arts like many complex designs and Mehendi designs. The artistic talents of various designs lead to complex patterns within the basic hand block printing designs. Detailed designs can also be generated through this procedure of hand block printing. Certain basic elements of Buti, Jhal, Bel, and Buta organize small patterns in a Block Print. Wooden blocks are carved in such a way that they portray the exact image of a designer. These hand block printing designs can be easy geometric structures or more precise impressions. Following the needs of Indian & global fashion in the industry, hand-blocked designs/patterns are formed in the best possible way by designers or artists. Hand block printing designs are cherished since the Mughal era. However, lately, hand block printing has become a diverse route. It has been an elaborate technique ever since it is known. Hand block printing has eternally been one of the most respected arts, but many features have added to it, to modernize it as per the popular fashion trends. Block printing on components of garments like pockets or collar adds an edge to the overall look and makes the garment a statement piece. Also, such prints used as patches on various products look fascinating. Hand block printing has a tremendous demand in the apparel industry for sarees, suits, and dresses and also for products such as handbags, etc. Looking at the current situation of hand block print fabrics in the market, the future of these fabrics seems to be quite impressive. From blocks, it will take time to get the designs customized where people can contribute to designing prints and patterns. Instead of wasting time in engraving, hand block printing should be made customized to complete the task in a time-friendly way. Experimenting with block prints will never go out of trend. Also, such prints combined with chunky jewellery gives a chic and modern look, which is not dying at least for many years to come.
